Countdown To Christmas: 6 Weeks Of Kid Friendly Projects To Make And Bake

Ack -- Six weeks until Christmas?!  Time to get your craft on.  The holidays are so busy for everyone - especially for me this year with the baby's first birthday in December (which I haven't started planning, by the way).  Make the holiday madness fun and set aside one day a week to make something festive with your kids.  Here are some ideas that I will be doing with my family that kids of all ages will enjoy.  I've included some ideas to cover the spirit of the season:  giving, making memories and baking.  There are seven project ideas so you're more than covered 'til Christmas!
Giving
I'm super excited to try these projects because I haven't yet delved into the world of E6000 and Mod Podge.  These paper crafts are so impressive (and inexpensive!) and easy to customize for anyone on your list -- PERFECT teacher gifts.

There are many tutorials online, but I liked this method of gluing and then tearing the paper from the sides of the tiles.
>> UPDATE: I made the coasters!  Check it out here.

Memories
I love getting out the ornaments each year and remembering years past -- ornaments the kids made at school and that we made together.  These will also make nice gifts...

These cinnamon ornaments are popular at our house, my 13-year-old son has requested we make them again this year.  They hold up really well over the years and smell amazing!  We use various cookie cutters and puff paints to decorate -- also try, buttons, google-y eyes, etc.  This year I might try stamping too.

The felt magnets are a new one for me this year and I'll be making lots -- they are such a quick and satisfying project. You can just leave out the magnet and tie a ribbon or thread loop for hanging instead.

Baking
What did we do before Pinterest?  I never would have known about these cute cookies.  Why don't I think up this stuff on my own?  Mad props to the truly crafty mamas sharing these ideas with the rest of the world...  If you're like me and would rather avoid a massive flour spill on your kitchen floor -- make the dough ahead (yourself) and decorate with the kids later, that's the best part anyway!
